Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it may be processed, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Ballard County Criminal History, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

When you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers receive routine technical details when a visitor loads a page:

  • Page-view times and the pages visited
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser type and version
  • The referring site, when one is available
  • The device's assigned IP address
  • Approximate time spent on a page

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files stored on a device. They and our analytics services help us view aggregate traffic patterns, such as popular pages and points where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although disabling them may change how some features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Directing a search request to the selected partner
  • Maintaining site speed and availability
  • Finding and repairing technical faults
  • Measuring which content visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Ballard County material identifies request channels at the sheriff, jail, Circuit Court Clerk, Kentucky State Police, and Kentucky Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal histories.

Third-Party Search Partners

Independent companies operate the search boxes. A query submitted there is governed by that company's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. We do not control those terms. Read the provider's policy before entering information.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Ballard County offices, Kentucky agencies, courts, legal resources, or outside search services. Once you leave our domain, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before disclosing personal details.

Advertising providers may use their own technology to follow activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

  • Advertising networks that place material on our pages
  • Search partners that process a query you submit
  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand

How We Protect Your Data

We use customary safeguards for the data under our control. No internet system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will take steps to remove it.

Your Data Rights

Rights can vary with your place of residence and applicable law. Kentucky's Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs access to records held by public agencies, not private-site visitor files. KRS 17.150 separately limits access to law-enforcement and centralized criminal-history material. Subject to the law that applies to you, you may:

  • Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Ask what personal data we hold about you
  • Object to certain processing where the law permits
  • Request deletion where a legal right applies

Updates to This Policy

We may revise this policy. A changed version becomes available here with an updated effective date, so review the page periodically if you want to track our practices.

Effective date: July 26, 2026
